Grrrr...

Posted in Avanade at Friday, March 25, 2005 9:01 AM Pacific Standard Time

One of the Avanade requirements is that I get my MCSD certification. I'm planning on taking the 70-300 exam tomorrow afternoon, so I've spent some time today working through some resources I have. One of them is a SkillSoft test exam which I was viewing online. I got through the whole exam and when I clicked the last button I got the notification bar telling me a pop-up had been blocked. So I clicked it to allow the pop-up and it reset the exam. *sigh*

I guess I didn't need to know my score on the practice exam.... thanks IE!

The New Guy

Posted in Avanade at Sunday, March 20, 2005 8:40 AM Pacific Standard Time

Well, tomorrow I get to be “the new guy”. :)

I'm excited to start on my first project at Avanade. I've spent most of my day today doing some basic training, reading, and browsing Avanade's resources. There is lots to do. I'm very impressed with my new employer.

Things to Install

Posted in General | Avanade at Tuesday, March 15, 2005 8:57 AM Pacific Standard Time

Another note to myself on some misc programs that I found to be useful and might not remember the name or url of:

My (new?) laptop is supposed to arrive on Friday and I start my job on Monday, so I'll probably wait to install these until I get a feel for how things work at Avanade.

Update: How could I forget these two from ThunderMain:

Things to Read and Watch

Posted in Sql and Xml | SharePoint | General | Avanade at Tuesday, March 15, 2005 6:33 AM Pacific Standard Time

Since I'm starting at Avanade on Monday, I've been doing some reading and watching to prepare myself a little for the job. Namely, I've been watching all the Enterprise Library webcasts.

I also wanted to make sure I find time in the near future to read and watch:

So this is a reminder for myself so that I can find all these later on...

Update: There are also hands-on labs for that go with the Enterprise Library webcasts here [via Scott Densmore]. After watching the Logging Application Block webcast I decided to add it into an existing application so that some of the other developers could get emails when the processed failed. It took me about five minutes to add it. Watching the webcast made the job easy for me.

New Job

Posted in General | Avanade at Monday, March 7, 2005 7:10 AM Pacific Standard Time

Well I am excited to announce that I accepted an offer to work for Avanade. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions in the last few days about the company and about SharePoint work in general. I think the job is going to be very exciting and I'm really looking forward to starting (I start March 21st). I'm pretty sure this blog will remain as it is and I think they are even a little excited about having a SoCal blogger working for them.

I think this is as close as I'll get to working for Microsoft since I really don't want to move to Seattle. :)
