Data Access Roundtable BOF

Posted in at Monday, September 22, 2003 3:38 PM Pacific Daylight Time

After reading Sam Gentile's post about his COM Interop BOF being approved I thought to check the topic that I had proposed. Sure enough the Data Access Roundtable BOF had been approved. Andrew Conrad is actually the one that suggested the topic to me so hopefully he is going to help me out.

Confused by the number and variety of Microsoft data access and database programming technologies, then this BOF is for you. Should the developer use relational API's of ADO.net, or view their database entirely as Xml? When is it appropriate to use SqlXml's server side functionality over the middle tier functionality? What are the Whidbey plans for SqlXml and ado.net? How does Microsoft see those technologies working together long term?

It should be an interesting roundable especially with all the new Xmlish features that are in Yukon.
